STATEMENT

I was recently reading about a phenomenon called “cognitive disinhibition.” This is where creative types and eccentrics lack the appropriate mental filters to block out useless information from entering the thought process. If you’re smart about it, the disinhibition can lead to creative discovery and new combinations of ideas. If you’re not smart about it, you just become weird.

I opt for the former. Painting is my way of embodying thoughts and feelings that don’t have a functional place elsewhere. Turning them into physical entities, by way of spatial and chromatic dimension, gives them a place.
